Hi Friends,
I hope you had an enjoyable holiday season and that you had the opportunity to listen to our latest podcast titled “I Resolve.” If not, it’s available at www.peopleprosper.org. In this episode, Dr. John Morgan and I interview Ag-business entrepreneur Ryan Kimbrel. A year ago, Ryan took a major step of faith by moving from being a successful auto-industry employee to being an entrepreneur in an entirely different industry.
I love Ryan’s story because, besides being incredibly inspirational, it illustrates what I consider to be the number one resolution most of us need to make to create new results in this new year, which is - “In 2022, I Resolve to Grow.” The reason I consider this my number one resolution is because growth is what usually needs to come first in creating new results in your life. If you want better results in any area of life, you must resolve to grow in that area!
Growth only happens when we’re intentional. Which is where resolutions come in. To make a resolution means - to resolve to do something that can produce a different result in your life. I know you know this but let me say it as a reminder to myself – “I can’t keep thinking the same way… and doing the same things… and expect different results.” I can’t and you can’t either!
In the “I Resolve” podcast, we discussed three important areas to grow in because of their potential to help us create new results in our life, ministry, or business in the next 12 months. If you really want to create new results in the important areas of your life in 2022, then let me encourage you to resolve to grow in these three areas:
1. Resolve to Grow in Faith
Hebrews 11:1, 6 - 1Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. 6And it is impossible to please God without faith. (NLT)
Please remember this: Nothing pleases God more than when you trust Him and everything God is going to lead you to do to create new results is going to require faith. And I mean everything!
Ask yourself:
- Where am I at in my faith?
- Am I stuck? Am I satisfied? Do I really want to grow?
2. Resolve to Grow in Knowledge and Skill
Proverbs 22:29 - Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank. (NIV)
This is one of our core teachings here at PPI. The more knowledge and skills you have, the more value you can create. It’s so easy to get stuck in a rut. But learning new knowledge and developing new skills empowers us to keep moving forward in life, ministry, and business.
Ask yourself:
- What am I doing to stretch myself?
- What am I doing to grow my knowledge and skills?
3. Resolve to Grow in Clarity
Romans 12:2 - Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will. (NIV)
I think one of the reasons we often struggle to set goals and create a plan to reach those goals is because we don’t have clarity. You can’t score any points if you don’t know where the endzone is. You can’t create a plan if you don’t know where you’re going.
Ask yourself:
- What do I really want out of life? Is this in line with what God wants?
- What steps do I need to take to get started?
- What else can I do to create the results I want? (This is my favorite question!)
I hope you will allow these thoughts and questions to help you get started on a good path for 2022, one that leads to new and better results in the most important areas of your life!
